Vishu – New Year

Vishu is the beginning of a new year for the people of Kerala. It’s the beginning of another harvest season.

Opening your eyes to see the golden yellow flowers called Kanikkonna, along with seasonal fruits, kani-vellari, money, gold, silver and Lord Krishna brings you a year full of prosperity and happiness. The elders of the house prepare Vishukkani late in the evening the previous day so that everyone in the family can open their eyes to see this auspicious sight. This first sight of the year is called the ‘Kani’.

Here’s wishing you all a happy and prosperous Vishu! Wishing everyone success and happiness always…
